I replaced an excellent nashbar hounder with this even better bike. Just like the hounder, it came quickly, was packed amazingly well, and took a few short minutes to assemble. There was a bit more assembly required here as I also had to get the rear wheel, chain, etc sorted as well as the front and rear brakes. Like the hounder, attaching the front wheel and stem/bars was extremely simple. Two small misses: there was a zip tie required but not included for routing the front brake cable and one of the four included v-brake boss caps was painted a different color then the rest which matched the lovely finish of the bike. I contacted customer service and while they promised to ship me a replacement gold cover, it was not ever delivered. No big deal I guess. I couldn't even bring myself to subtract a star since they were at least nice and potentially helpful about it. The frame is fantastic quality, lightweight and rugged. I feel like I could bomb off a pretty good drop with this setup, yet it feels like, rolls great, and handles nicely, even being more maneuverable than I had expected for this, my first 29er.The bike is single speed, which meets my requirement for low maintenance, and the front and rear disc brakes are excellent. They have good modulation and amazing stopping. Mechanical disc brakes have come a long way since I last tried them. Even the budget tektros are fantastic. Little tricky to work out the install, but once adjusted, they are great. the cable housings are an attractive metallic color and the rest of the bike is black which creates a nice effect with the subdued gold color. The bottom bracket and crank are very high quality and look fantastic. Not too sure about the clear plastic guard on the chainring, but it does a reasonable job of keeping my pantleg out of the toothy bits. Drivetrain is smooth and engages well. I feel like this bike is every bit as good in quality as any medium quality rig I've bought over the years at the $800-$1000 price point. Easily ten times better than a comparable 100-200 bike that would sit right next to this one. Tires and wheels are reasonable and durable, the only cheap looking part on the entire bike is the very utilitarian bolts which secure the wheels in place.I had the idea that I was going to order a bunch of fancy parts and get this thing looking all custom and light, but the truth is, I could spend hundreds and it wouldn't be too much lighter or better looking than it came right out of the box. Some thin pedals might be the only thing I'd change right away. Kudos to nashbar for a great looking bike of amazing quality and value.
