Some assembly required!

Once I got this bicycle put together and purchased some other stuff I knew I'd want for a really snazzy beach hopper (like a wire carrying basket, rear view mirrors, reflectors, horn, and portable hand pump), and put all THAT stuff on it...it turned out to be a really nice vehicle for casual after dinner or weekend bikers. I did have some trouble with inflating the tires because both original inner tubes exploded when I attempted to push them up to suggested psi. So I had to replace those. But all in all, not too bad for a mail-order item. Remember that this is a SINGLE SPEED bicycle! Those uphill treks can be a challenge if you're not in great shape.

After reading so many reviews with problems in have bikes shipped I was a little apprehensive about ordering this bike. My experience has been totally positive. The bike shipped in its orginial factory box undamaged. The cardboard box is a very heavy, sturdy box and seems suitable for shipping. After pulling the bike out I found no damage, scratches or parts missing. The bike is mostly assembled but you do have to put the front tire, seat, pedals and handle bar on. Except for a screwdriver, this company enclosed all tools used to put the bike together. From the reviews I have read not all bikes come with assembly tools. Assembly was fairly easy with only a couple minor problems but with trial and error I overcame. One problem I had was that I found out there is a left side pedal and a right side pedal and you can only put the correct pedal on that specific side (this is shown in the directions but I did not read them only until after I had a problem). For a bike at this price the quality of materials seems good. The only thing I noticed is the fenders are thinner than the bikes I had as a kid and the chrome fenders can scratch fairly easily. Once assembled the bike really looks sharp! This is a one speed bike with coaster brakes. I wanted a bike that is simple and uncomplicated and this is it. Also this bike has no rattles or squeeks so far and is very quiet. All in all the whole experience was positive and for riding around the neighborhood it is exactly what I was looking for. I would highly recommend the Beach Hopper Cruiser. There is an adjustment knob on the back of the quick release lever that controls seat height that if you tighten it enough the seat will stay at the level you would like it.UPDATE 6/15/2011 All of the above still applies to this bike except the chrome fenders and handle bars will rust. The chrome on the fenders is now flaking off as well. This bike is outside on a covered porch and never ridden in the rain. My conclusion is just the humidity in the air causes all this rust. The black painted areas are still fine. I would look for a bike with the least amount of chrome possible. Other than the rust issue it is still a nice riding bike.

I was looking for a beach cruiser. It needed to be a single speed and black. I found this Beach Hopper on Amazon and I was thrilled when it arrived. It arrived in less than a week. The bike was more than I was hoping for. The quality of the frame is great. The black paint has an awsome metal flake finish in it. The chrome fenders are unique and set off the bike well. It has nice alloy wwheels and the seat is comfortable. The only item I did not care for was the handlebar stem which I replaced. It's a great bike for the money.
