5Exceeds expectations - would give it 6 stars if possible
By Parker C. Thompson
I live in an NYC apartment and purchased this bike to replace a mountain bike with street tires. The bike arrived fully assembled and very well packed. It was in pristine condition and I was able to ride it after unpacking and reading the instructions. The shifters were properly indexed and the bike rode, shifted and braked perfectly. While this bike (like all bikes) is a compromise, it has exceeded my expectations. The bike defies easy categorization. It folds into an easy-to-store and -carry package, but it feels and rides like a solid, full frame bike. There are only seven speeds, but these are perfectly adapted for most road conditions - think the opposite of a big-box store bike. There is a single crankset or front spocket, and seven rear sprockets. The first and seventh sprockets are out of proportion, giving the bike a high-torque "granny" gear in first that climb stairs, and a seventh gear approaching road bike ratios. On the street I use gears 2-7. There is only one shifter, on the right handgrip.I haven't clocked the bike with a speedometer yet, but it feels fast. I have no trouble keeping up with NYC traffic and consistently pass hybrid and delivery bikes. The tires have a narrow, high-profile configuration that allows wheel removal without decoupling the brake levers. The wheels are 700cc (27"?) which seems to help with traction and to soak up bumps. I had originally intended to add shocks to the front fork, but based on my first 50 miles on NYC streets, I'm going to wait and see.I'm 6'2", but chose the 19" frame (intended for 5'10" - 5'3"), so that my wife and daughter can share the bike. The handlebar tube uses an octogon shape to make it adjustable, almost as easily as the seat stem tube. All three of us are comfortable on the bike, once adjusted. Unfolding and adjustment are an easy, one person job, and take less than a minute.Bottom line: this is an incredible bike that's a reflection of the care and thought put into its design and execution. Consider this bike even if folding features aren't a high priority.

5Outstanding
By Jontue Austin
I can't say enough about this bike. From the weight, to the functionality, to the looks, I can find no fault with this bike. Working on a large college campus, this was one of the best investments I've made, letting me drive to campus and then get around to points A, B, and Q in comfort, speed, and style. There's a reason the US Army Rangers use Montague.

4folding bike fun
By CLASHwoman
We have not had a chance to travel yet with our bikes but they came quite promptly, were easy to assemble, nice ride, look like "real" bikes instead of the usual clown-like folding bikes. We're looking forward to bringing them sailing and flying this summer. I only wish they had the female style since it's hard to get my leg over sometimes. Highly recommend Montague!
