By Lili Luana
I needed a folding bike to take on my sailboat as we cruise the intracoastal canal. We plan to make many stops along the way and where you tie up the boat is not always close to grocery stores or local attractions--thus the need for some practical form of transportation. I was about to buy one of the folding bikes sold by West Marine, when I came across Dahon bikes. My husband picked up a used Dahon Mariner for himself, and when I decided to look further into the Dahon brand of bikes, I fell in love with the Dahon Briza. Took me a few days to get used to the higher price, but then I decided to go with it because generally you get what you pay for and this turned out to be true with my new bike: 1) As a 24" wheel bike, it looks more like a regular bike unlike the 18" or 20" folding bikes that look like little kids' bikes; 2) The Dahon Briza folds down to just about the same size as one of those smaller bikes.(Fold down size was a key issue since there is very limited storage space on a boat); 3) The quality of the materials/construction and design is excellent. The ride is very comfortable, it shifts easily, and has an overall strong and solid feel to it. I love that it came with front and back mud guards and a robust rear rack with its own bungy chord that will hold just about anything down without shifting in place. I did add a basket to the front also sold by Dahon. They sell a basket especially made to attach to their bikes which does not require it to be attached to the handlebars,--it hooks on with an adapter at the steering neck (shaft), thereby eliminating ANY chance of the basket interfering with your steering. And did I mention style--great design and the obsidian color looks very chic and luxurious. Great quality bike-- worth the money.

By mary
I just upgraded from a Dahon Speed 7, and am really pleased and surprised at how comfortable this bike is to ride, and how easy it is to fold, unfold, and store. They aren't kidding when they say you don't have to lift it to fold it! The double kick stand is a neat feature, too; it means you can stand the bike up to store it when folded. Please note: I'm a beginning rider. If you're looking for a light racing or road bike, you probably wouldn't like the Dahon, but, if you're just looking to get around town or cruise bike trails, this is a fine little machine. It seems stable and handles well, and has a lot of nice features like the built in luggage rack, the reflectors and hubs, and the double kickstand I mentioned earlier. When I get a bit more experienced, I intend to take this bike shopping; it will take a basket as well as panniers. One addenda: because of the way the wheel turns in to fold, the Dahons seem to have rather twitchy steering. That takes a bit of getting used to. For me, the bike's also a bit heavy - only when lifting it in and out of the car. Those might be drawbacks you'd need to consider. Otherwise, I love it! As I said above, it's easy to ride and very easy to store, and, what's more, it's cute! I love the step-through frame.

By Andrew Flicker
I'm loving the bike, use it around 3-4 times a week to commute to my work and back. It's a good commuter bike, but too heavy for any long-term riding or trips. I wish it came with higher gears as well, but that can be upgraded after-market. Folded up, it fit in the backseat of my car with no fuss.
