READ BEFORE PURCHASING

This was my first uni, and it's a great model to learn on, as well as to take occasional offroading trails, but after 4 months (One of which just to learn to ride the thing) I have: 3 holes in the saddle, Hub is twisted, Cranks bent, pedals are missing reflectors, one is cracked, and the pedals refuse to be coaxed from their place (I messed up a wrench trying to get them out) This is due to the abuse I put this little guy through trying out various Street and Trials stunts. The arms are about 170 degrees apart, not 180 after hopping down a few stair cases. I"m sure if I stuck to more 'standard' stuff it would have held up a lot better. IT IS GREAT TO LEARN ON, AND FOR BASIC RIDING/SMALL TRAILS, and deffinantly worth it for a 100, just in case you can't figure it out you didn't spend too much.HOWEVER, IF YOU WANT TO GET INTO STREET/TRIALS I suggest a Nimbus X street or a Nimbus Trials, it's about 3 times more, but the quality is unbelievable, this guy is not built for the stress I put it through hahaIF YOU WANT A MUNICYCLE: GO for a 24" or a 26", probably Torker would be your best bet, Nimbus is really good as wellQUALITY MATTERS when it comes to these guys, they're not at all like bikes. If you get one, just keep in mind that you WILL HAVE TO REPLACE IT at some point in the near future (4 months for me), and this hobby will cost a bit, but if you go quality, you'll be set for several years.Low Budget? This all you can affort? Get NIMBUS ULTIMATE WHEEL from UNICYCLE.COM, it's about the same price, a heck of a lot of fun, durable, and will keep you occupied until you get more money saved up~One Wheel Johnny

I Love my unicycle!

I ordered this Avenir unicycle a few weeks ago and i just love it so far! It is a very reliable unicycle and is very sturdy. It rides great and handles well for hopping. I love the 2.5 inch wide tire with its big tread, giving it excellent traction. I reccomend this product to anyone who wants to have a great time!

Good uni, short seat post

Good unicycle overall, at least for kids. No instructions came for assembly, but it was really very easy to put together if you have the wrenches and minimal mechanical skills. Love the fat tire. Fun riding offroad. However, the seat post is way too short for me and my teen son, both about 5'11. So this is a good choice for kids and short people to learn on. Later we ordered a 24" Torker from ebay (at that time the price was better than Amazon). Torker unis are excellent quality for the price. And the 24" uni is a much better ride than this 20" "toy." If you already know how to ride, and aren't short, get a 24" Torker! And if you are tall, a 24" uni would be the best choice for learning on as well. It comes with a long seat post which can be cut off to desired length. Much better design!

By offering decreased rolling resistance, increased traction when cornering and improved ground clearance, one ride upon one of these massive behemoths is sure to sway even the staunchest skeptic. The Diamondback Overdrive packs a punch in terms of value and affordability and takes 29ers to a new level. The improved 2013 6061-T6 Aluminum Overdrive series frame boasts of newly formed top and down tubes, a machined headtube, and forged drop outs with a replaceable derailleur hanger. The Geometry is spot on. The ever so sloping top tube provides ample standover clearance. A 71° head tube angle and a 73° seat tube angle create the perfect XC/trail geometry. The 390mm (15.4 inch) chainstays equate to an extremely snappy rig and the ability to easily get the front wheel off the ground – something that not all 29ers can be so proud of. The Overdrive is a fantastic entry level 29er well balanced between value and performance. The SR Suntour XCT gives you 100mm of travel for the perfect amount of cushion up front. Add to that Disc brakes courtesy of Tektro and you have one of the best in class values for an entry level 29er period.

STARTER BIKE

I purchased this on sale, so I got it for $200 less than list. This is a Great bike if just starting out or just need a bike to get around. I will use this bike in my first amature competition this spring (I will report how that goes).Pro: cheap, reasonable weight (not super heavy nor feather light, shipping weight is only 25 lbs!), 29 inch tires, good for anything that you would normally do with a hardtail (trail, xc, and maybe all mountain), diamondback has been consistently listed as a best buy for under $1000 in mountain biking.***EDIT: It has survived a big crash. However I'm injured and won't be able to test this in a race.Con: If you can afford a $1500+ bike then get that!(will be lighter & better components), would not take huge downhill drops do to no rear suspension, The picture shows REMOTE LOCKOUTS, but the bike does NOT HAVE THEM!!! FALSE ADVERTISING!!! (will report and update after responce) it does have a front lockout however.***EDIT: This is not the DB company, it's someone using the name. You need to be fitted for this bike. You need to go to a bike shop and have it done, unless of course you have the skills. The already assembled parts are not well placed.I have seen similar bikes at the bike shop in the $500-600 range. Go to a bike shop. just watch for sales people that want to upsell you. A good basic package worth every cent of the price. No bonuses but good.

So this bike is my first foray into 29ers and, at the price, it's good value.The frame has a good, solid look to it, with a down-tube that begins as a squarish section at the head and graduates to an ovalised section at the bottom bracket. Chunky would be the best way to describe the arrangement. The rest of the frame build is pretty-much typical of larger, 29er chassis'. The colouring of the frame is good; albeit a bit thin and devoid of a gel-coat so any substantial offs will mark the paintwork. On finishing touches, the decals on the frame and especially the wheels were adhered by either a very complacent worker or by a machine that had a twelve year hangover from the Y2K bug. The sticker application on the frame was a little off and the ones applied to the wheels were as wrinkled as a happy 50-year-old's eyes. This bike will be a work horse as opposed to a show pony so I can live with the physical anomalies.As there appears to be a cartel out there on equipment installed by manufacturers of new bikes, the Shimano and SRAM gear installed is pretty standard for bikes within this price bracket. The brakes work; as do the derailleurs. Easy. Tyres and rims are, again, on par with most other bikes out there. Of note though. The cabling for the brakes and gear changers is a little fussy around the head; especially after converting the front brake hydraulics to the right-hand (sorry all you US reviewers but, seriously, left-hand front brakes?? Aren't mountain-bikes meant to be like motorbikes sans the clutch and engine?). A few strategically-placed cable ties does the trick though.Overall, a good bike for the money that has received a good amount of accolades during its model cycle. (allegedly one of the best under 1K) Built alongside the production lines of Schwinn, Kona, Jamis and GT in China, the quality of the manufacturing should be just OK; if not better. If you're in the market for an above-entry-level, disc-braked hard-tail mountain bike that will do the job plus some, make sure that you check-out all the competitors but definitely ensure that you also have a good look at this one.

Parts are not as advertized

Except the frame rest all parts are the same as on 2012 bike. For example 2013 bike is supposed to have Shimano brakes but this one had Draco Tektro brakes. Shocks were supposed to be cable controlled on 2013 but this bike came with the same 2012 shocks. I had bought the same bike from JensonUSA too and similar 2012 model was delivered, had to return it(lost 25$). Reviewed the specs on Diamondback web site and the picture(e.g. shocks) on Amazon(does a poor job of listing all parts). Then to my utter disbelief the 2nd order from Amazon too came with 2012 parts. I was very disappointed to get cheated twice but Amazon offered a discount so kept the bike. Amazon service is 5 stars. Diamonback are cheaters. Wish it had a chain ring cover. Tried the entire town but chain ring covers are not available as a spare. Never again I will buy bikes online. Better pay the extra at a local shop and save yourself the disappointment/hassles.

great bike, great price!

I purchased the XL frame size and took a chance that it would fit based on trying a few bikes at local retailers (note: not all frame sizes are consistent... this 21" is similar to another brands 22.5"). I'm 6'-4" with a 34" inseam by the way.The bike arrived all boxed up. I chose to have it professionally assembled for $80 by a legit bike shop. Good decision i think. The bike is really wonderful to ride and the gears/brakes operate smoothly. I like having the fenders and rear rack included. The only thing I added was a kickstand (not included). The frame is aluminum which makes the bike fairly light. All in all a really nice bike. Even the bike store employees commented on it despite being a brand they didn't sell there.
