buy the strida!

I bought this on accident when i was really looking for was a strida. This is a cheap knock off of the original. You get what you pay for - the handles twist around and the pedal broke off the first time i tried to go up a small hill!

FAKE - do NOT buy Stick to the original Strida

Tried one of these back to back with a secondhand strida ... it felt awful !! What you don't see in the pictures is all the materials are really poor quality, even the belt is not a proper gates belt but some chinese branded 'band'loose and rusting spokes, brakes that didn't work and stuck on, .. total Junk.Stick to the original 'Strida' from Strida.com

Not at all what is seen in the photo

I like the bike, it rides well, and is a good value for what you get on the bicycle. However, it is not at all what is seen in the photo. There was no rear portage rack as seen in the photo, and the seatpost and stem/handlebars that arrived on the bicycle were silver, not black. Same with all the cables, they were silver as well. For a 'Shadow' edition, it's way off the mark.It is packaged well, but is not what was pictured when I ordered it. I don't do many amazon reviews, as 99% of the time, the photos and descriptions are very accurate. In this case, they are way off. It will be going back, but I will order another Dahon Vitesse from elsewhere that actually looks like the bicycle is supposed to.

SO BITTERLY DISAPPOINTED!!!

For some years know I want to purchase a folding bike, though, they are so very expensive! Well then I try to reason that it is probably the manufacture cost that made it so expensive, due to its very unique features. So for some years now I looked at it and finally decide I am just gone bite the bullet and buy one. I did not want to buy the entry level one, because I reason if am willing spend that much money I might as well go for bit more. Well I am in the Air Force and have been deployed several times and every time I promise myself; next time I am buying a folding bicycle. There were some sailors, airman and marines at my last deployment with these Dahon bikes and I just gaze at them as they were pedaling off to the Dining Facilities that were about 2.5 clicks (2.5km) from us. But the 2.5km is not the problem, it is that you only have so much time during lunch to go and eat and come back to work ... Like the Army soldier told me one's "we got to hurry up, come on, you can taste your food later".OK so you may ask why I am so upset? Well got my orders to deploy again and thought this is the perfect time... I am a prime member of Amazon so it would be just in time before I have to leave. I come to know even if I fly commercial, the bike will fly for free as long as it is in the a box or those expensive suitcases they have for them . Well for our plane's (C17) it doesn't bother as long as we tie it down, Capt. said. I decide to keep mine in the box for protection. Well I couldn't wait to land and get to my barracks and start to assemble it. Then too my disappointment, the bike had only 3 gears (I am in a deployed environment that we are allowed to go in to the local town = 5km). Amazon state it got 7 speeds, Bull.... It also did not come with the rack it show on the advertisement. WHAT THE .... You got to be kidding me AMAZON!!! "Prime product" with all-inclusive BS! To add to the insult, the bike came with mediocre parts as well. SPRAM Motion 3 gears, look if it is only 3 gears let it at least be SHIMANO! Now I am stuck here, I cannot return it until I get back state side in 6 months or maybe I won't be allowed because I past the 1 month return policy ... AMAZON YOU BLOODY BASTERS!!! $ 700.00 what was I thinking, guess I wasn't...

Look around for something else

got this for my 19 year old for his birthday. Cheaper than a car, but still gives him mobility thats more fun than a bike. from day one we had problems with getting it started. followed all the trouble shooting, maintanence, and whatnot the manual offered. half hour later got it running and things seemed to be real good.. the next day he let his 13 year old brother ride it, hit a curb and fell.. no big deal.. youd think !! same day riding it on an uneven sidewalk the gas tank fell off. the bracket that held in place snapped at both ends.. well gave that a quick fix with big hose clamps, because it was the sunday of labor day weekend and he just wanted to ride. that evening the carburetor came loose and the bolt to tighten it would not screw in or out... it is jammed in, "as is".. THEN from pulling the cord so much to try and get it started, that broke in half.... called the company.. nothing.. no response.. will continue calling the rest of the week.. but now a 300 dollar piece of equip sits in our garage till we figure out what to do.. nothing but a headache !!! UPDATE.... September 19th. This thing is still nothing but a headache, and now with all we have had to put into it to keep it running, it has turned into a money pit. EVERYTHING ABOUT IT SCREAMS "MADE IN CHINA" On top of that, there is STILL NO RESPONSE FROM THE COMPANY AFTER MULITPLE PHONE CALLS !! I will leave bad reviews EVERYWHERE to keep people from buying this scooter.. it is a HUGE GIGANTIC ENORMOUS waste of YOUR money !!!

I don't understand all these bad reviews....unless you are just very NON mechanical

We did not end up purchasing the scooter from amazon, simply bc it was less expensive at a local store. I had read a ton of reviews of the scooter before my purchase and decided I'd be willing to give it a go, simply because most of the reviews seemed bad because the buyers didn't take the actions to prevent those things.Right out of the box, we tightened everything. EVERYTHING. We lock-tited some of the hardware to be safe. We adjusted the brakes, and governed it down a bit for the break in process. Speaking of break in process, I hope everyone knows that a 2-stroke motor does need a specific break-in. This is pretty important to this type of motor. I didn't see anyone mention that either!!We fueled up after all the tightening and stuff. It cranked IMMEDIATELY. After riding this thing for a few hours, we readjusted. Had to turn the idle down a bit, and a hair of adjustment on a couple of bolts. My younger kids (12 and 9) ran this thing around our very hilly neighborhood for HOURS. My 17 year old rode it around Springfield for a couple hours, even in traffic. It is not exceptionally fast. About 15-17 mph. It rides and runs like a champ.Unless this thing literally starts to fall apart, I can not find a single fault with the scooter at all. The website has tons of maintenance videos, and there are parts even here on Amazon, for the eventual repairs that ANY small motorized vehicle will need with 4 boys riding it.So, buy this thing. If you take a little bit of time at the start up I can't see where you could go wrong. It IS a motor and WILL require some tinkering to be just right.I will try to remember to come back after we have had it for awhile to see if my opinion has changed any.

More fun that we could imagine

We bought two of these units for our kids and they have so much fun riding them we can't believe it. We have seen some of the bad reviews but ours start and run great every time. We've had to replace a few parts like a tire and a pull starter but that's to be expected when they are used as much as ours, plus they sent them out to us right away and I like to tinker with them in the garage so I took care of it myself. I just think it's great for kids to learn to take care of something at an early age and to learn the proper way to ride safe so we think they are great.

Sexy and smooth

This bike turns heads. It's sweet to ride (light, even lighter when i added the state bike carbon fork). I use this bike for joy rides, to do messenger work in NYC, street races (top 10 out of 70) and even packed it with me to mexico. I <3<3<3<3 my Midas!!!!!!
