4Bike is pretty good after problems fixed
By Jim Maher
It took me three deliveries to get a man's bike and I have to thank Danielle at Amazon for taking the extra step to correct the problems at the factory/warehouse.The bike arrived and the battery was bad. I contacted Yukon Trails, showed them pictures of the problem and battery was replaced within a week at no charge. Directions to put the bike together are not to clear. On my test ride (this is a gift) one of the pedal cranks fell off. Luckily I was in a parking lot, found the nut and tightened everything up.Works fine now.

3Read before you buy!
By CD3BizMail
Rating a 3, but it's because the purchase had major problems... and because I believe the bike probably warrants a 4 or 5, though I never got to ride it. While you're at it check the reviews for the girls model (Yukon Trails Women's Xpolrer Sport Hybrid Electric Bike (26-Inch)). In January 2013, Amazon has shipped the girl's bike to guys, and the male model to girls. SUGGESTION #1 - When buying THIS bike... contact Amazon and verify the problem's been resolved. They put a hold on guy's bikes (smartly) but not on the girl's bike (which they probably should too). SUGGESTION #2 - When the box arrives... check the box for damage, check the PICTURE on the box, verify the model number is what you are expecting and check the packing slip... ALL BEFORE YOU OPEN THE BOX. In my excitement, I opened the box, took the bike out, got rid of the box (which was damp and had damage) and then unwrapped all the taped on packing stuff, and put the seat and handle bars and front tire on. And then I looked at it, and had that Ah-ha moment - Ah-ha, I'm an idiot... it's a girl's bike! So SUGGESTION #3, don't do anything to destroy the box when you open it and if the box doesn't look good enough to use a 2nd time, then call Amazon or the Shipper and find out your options. FYI... getting a new box and having the bike repacked and shipped back could cost another $175+ (although would likely be refunded). My bike had two broken plastic parts, which is related I believe to how well the manufacturer packs them (or in this case, how well it doesn't - specifically the PAS and bike light need added protection.) Other than that, the bike looked like it was worth the now $1000+ price tag. The major components were all quality parts, and built solidly. SUGGESTION #4 - If you're going to buy an electric bike online, I still think, even with my problems, that Amazon's a great place to do it from. This was a strange and unusual problem, so it took some time, so it took some time to resolve, but you can count on Amazon to handle refunds promptly, and completely and probably exchanges too. Living in a 2nd floor apt, I decided the bike was heavier and bulkier than I expected, so I declined getting another.

Diamondback 2013 Overdrive V 29'er Mountain Bike with 29-Inch Wheels (Black, 22-Inch/X-Large)

Product Description

The bike industry sees fads come and go. Innovation doesn’t always assure success or even relevance. Luckily, the 29er revolution is one that’s here to stay--and for good reason. There’s no denying the rock crawling, root crushing power of a larger wheel. Making the largest of obstacles the smallest of matters is a defining trait of these muddy beasts. By offering decreased rolling resistance, increased traction when cornering and improved ground clearance, one ride upon one of these massive behemoths is sure to sway even the staunchest skeptic. The Diamondback Overdrive packs a punch in terms of value and affordability and takes 29ers to a new level. The improved 2013 6061-T6 Aluminum Overdrive series frame boasts of newly formed top and down tubes, a machined headtube, and forged drop outs with a replaceable derailleur hanger. The Geometry is spot on. The ever so sloping top tube provides ample standover clearance. A 71° head tube angle and a 73° seat tube angle create the perfect XC/trail geometry. The 390mm (15.4 inch) chainstays equate to an extremely snappy rig and the ability to easily get the front wheel off the ground – something that not all 29ers can be so proud of. The Overdrive is a fantastic entry level 29er well balanced between value and performance. The SR Suntour XCT gives you 100mm of travel for the perfect amount of cushion up front. Add to that Disc brakes courtesy of Tektro and you have one of the best in class values for an entry level 29er period.

5A few bike issues, but DB coming through to get issues resolved!
By Volker72
I had written a long review about some issues I had with the bike. I said I would send in an update after I spoke to DB today. Here is the quick recap of my first review:1) DB could do a better job packaging by adding some sort of cushioning packaging material. May be the cause of the wheel issues below.2) My front wheel was very untrue3) My back wheel was slightly untrue (to the point where if this had been the only issue I would have just lived with it)4) I was shipped the wrong pedals (resin instead of the metal pedals spec'ed on the DB and Amazon website)Update:I just spoke to Jason at DB. He called a couple local dealers and got one to true up the wheels at no cost (to me anyway). I'm really happy about this. I was was hoping I wouldn't have to ship parts back and forth to get this issue resolved. I plan on taking it in this afternoon.I noted to Jason that I got the wrong pedals. He said the specs are subject to change. I understand that, but the spec's then need to be changed on the websites (Amazon and DB). Don't downgrade a part and still spec out the previously better part. However, at the end of the day we are talking about me getting a $10 resin pedal over a $15 metal pedal, neither of which I really want. I've already ordered the DB sound pedal as an upgrade and I would have done so if I had gotten the pedal I was supposed to. I noted it more for the principal of the thing. The bike is more assembled out of the box than I would have thought (I've never bought a bike online before). It was just about ready to go except the handlebars and front tire are removed and zip tied to the frame. After getting those on you just need to tune the breaks and the derailer and its ready to go. I've never done this before but it wasn't too bad. There are also how to videos online showing customers how to setup a mail order bike if needed (third party sites, not the DB site).I really like this bike. It is much lighter than my 8 yr old Trek 4300, even with the bigger tires. I've not done any real riding with it yet (as I need to take the front tire in to get fixed first) but just riding it up and down the street I can tell like size size of the 29 in wheels. The reviews I read about the front suspension did turn out to be true, they give more than I'd like even if you tighten them all the way.As long as it holds up this will be considered a great buy.Happy Riding!Update 10-8-12:Went to the local DB dealer that DB customer service set me up with. They got the tire issue resolved and went above and beyond fine tuning it for me. Made me feel bad I did not buy from them, but to be fair I did look at their store and they did not carry the 22" size I wanted.Updated 10-20-12:Found that using a pair of pliers to tighten the front suspension has helped a lot. I thought I had tightened it all the way by hand, but after using a small amount of pressure using a pair of pliers it was not as close to being fully tightened as I thought. Much better now. Very similar to the way may Trek 4300 front suspension feels.

5HUGE BANG FOR THE $$$!!!!!!!!!!!
By DanOnABike
After reading reviews for weeks on all the 29ers out there, i decided to give the Diamondback Overdrive V a shot. I am new to mountain biking. That being said, this bike is amazing. It feels very powerful. The upsized 29" wheels feel like they can take anything you throw at them. Assembly is extremely easy. I also love that Diamondback uses the same frame throughout the Overdrive line, so the pro model has the same frame as the V. I also love that even though the V comes with cantilever brakes, it has the mounts for disc brakes giving the option to upgrade later. Really the only drawback is that Diamondbacks warranty DOES NOT COVER any bike delivered to your home in a carton. To me, that's just not right. But, all in all, this bike is an absolute STEAL for the price. My recommendation is that if you are looking for a beginner to novice 29er, this is the bike to get. You just can not beat the quality of a Diamondback for this price.

4Good Buy...
By AC
I decided to return to bicycling after years of running wore out my knees. I'm not in to long distance riding and I wanted something more versatile to handle ragged streets and rough terrain. I received this bike well packaged and without a scratch on the frame. The black paint has a nice satin finish and, with its black rims and spokes, it looks like a shadow floating down the road. It was only a matter of installing the front wheel, take note of the directional tread, and adjusting the brake pads. It came with a set of allen wrenches, which is all you need. The owner's manual can be somewhat confusing and vague but common sense should prevail. I'm 6'2", around 240lbs, and the large size was perfect. The bike's frame is very sturdy and has substantial weight. It took me a few rides to get accustomed to the gears but shifting was smooth and functional. All it takes is a quick click and gears switch. If you hold the shifter one second too long you'll switch multiple gears. The one thing I didn't expect was having to buy another pump, only about $15, to accomodate the presta valve. The bike looks classic and runs smooth.

5Awesome Experience with this Bike!
By Beverly75
So after reading a couple of reviews for this bike, I was worried about what the set-up would be like. I can honestly say it was a joyful experience for me! I had no trouble whatsoever- in fact, and I don't recommend this, but...I didn't even need the instruction manual. All you do is pop the handlebars into place and set it to the appropriate height and tighten with an Allen wrench...put the front wheel on, TOTALLY self-explanatory, and screw on the peddles. I did need to adjust the front disc brake, easily achievable with the dial provided, and also adjust the handles, also easily done with allen wrench. I am not a mechanically savy person but this was a piece of cake. The bike is beautiful and is a very smooth ride. I couldn't be happier!

1Beware of the Return policy!
By Dan
I bought this bike for my wife and the seat height was too tall. I requested a return through Amazon. Unfortunately for me I did not research the return policy before buying the bike. Well, the seller, OJcommerce responded with a return authorization. In which it stated I must return the bike to CA at my cost, and there would be a 30% restocking fee. The shipping, OK but the 30% is very steep and was not mentioned in the original Amazon listing. By the time I ship the bike from my home in FL and loose the 30% resotcking fee, I will have lost about 50% of what I paid for the bike. If I would have know this up front I would not have bought the bike. Bottom line, I'm not returning the bike but will try to sell it locally and will probably recover more than if I returned it to the seller. That is not good customer service in my opinion.

4If you change the seat the bike is perfect!
By B. Nieves in NYC
Darn that seat was so uncomfortable! I was in pain for about a week and a half! lololol When I peddled the bike and stood up on the peddles the ride was perfect! I went and purchased a new seat the next day and the bike is now perfection! Rides like a dream! On the second run I took it for a ride in the woods. Up and down hills with no problem....in the mud...no slipping....able to shift gears smoothly....no problems at all with it! Including that everyone's eyes were on the bike offering lots of compliments on how nice it looks! Great bike...Oh I forgot to add that I added a child trailer hitch to it and pulled along my 5 year old so smooth I forgot he was back there ( dont know yet whether that is good or bad) but my baby boy enjoyed the ride! Go for it....great purchase just be ready to change the seat!I just wanted to add that ordering from Amazon is always a pleasure! Ordered the bike online and was shipped within 2 days....free shipping btw...saved me a nice amount of money on that! Love Love Love Amazon!

4Great bike for the money
By Book Junkie, MD
I bought this bike for my 6 going on 7 year old. He's about 46 inches tall - the bike is on the larger side for him, but overall it fits him well, particularly if he rides standing up (which he does most of the time). Sitting down, he's pretty laid out to reach the bars but not uncomfortably so.The bike is very well built, with generally nice components. The frame is steel, but gusseted at stress points and I don't see my guy's 50 lbs doing a lot of damage. My only gripe is the inclusion of a 1 piece crank - kind of cheap, and out of place on an otherwise solid build. The v-brake is a nice piece, as is the stem and bars. We looked at a lot of bikes, and despite the 1 piece crank we decided to go with the eastern because it does not have a 1 piece seat/post combo, which makes the seat a little more comfortably adjustable for a little rider.Overall we're very happy with this bicycle and would recommend it to others.

4my new ride the good, the bad, and the ugly
By R. Custer
First of all I consider myself a serious commuter rider. I ride 3000 miles a year, have for two years, on and off for 35 years. I've had Schwinns, Gitanes, and Motobecanes. I hit a pothole, ended up in the hospital and destroyed my 35 year old Motobecane a few weeks ago. My bike is my only means of transportation, so replacing it was a must. I'm not a weekend racer or casual rider. I'm 6'6", 240 pounds, and an engineer. I need my bike tough, fast, and with a really high high gear. I'm not interested in some overpriced bike to impress my weekend bike warrior friends. I don't run around in spandex. I've now had it a year and a half. I still stand by this review. What I like: The balance is good, light as a feather, the padded tape handle bars are wonderful, the gearing is great, the shifters that actually go right to the desired gears are heavenly, the brake calipers do a great job of centering on the tires. I like the quick release front hub with self centering fork depressions. Quick release seat height is a plus. The paint looks durable. The handles hold a end of bar mirror nicely. The bike rides great and I rapidly got used to it's balance. Before I mention the negatives, I am pleased with the bike, it's a pleasure to ride and would definitely buy it again. I got it for $249 at a big box sporting goods store. What I don't like: I would love to be able to raise the handlebar stem a few inches, and have the frame larger for my size. I immediately replaced the skinny fits in your crack seat, with a wide memory foam one from Bell for my ample rear. I took off the peddle baskets, hate them things, which lost me two peddle reflectors. They have wrapped the brake lines under the handlebar tape and taped almost to the stem making it really tough to cludge solutions to mount the lights, reflectors, and speed computer. I made putty epoxy forms to get the computer to fit the handlebar center shaft. My Motobecane had brake handles that went both down the front and in toward the stem of the handlebars so you could brake in both hand positions. You have to be in the lower position to brake on the Prelude, loosing precious milliseconds in an emergency. I am at the upper limit of the seat post to fit me. The 700c 23mm 'tires' are weak for going across rough terrain, I go over 34 railroad tracks on the way to work. Blew both tires first week going too fast. The rear wheel is a pain to remove and especially to reinstall. The rims are really solid, but they are that hollow extruded aluminum design. They put a chinsy rubber strip over the spoke holes and the tire pressure (100 PSI min) caused it to burst puncturing two inner tubes within a two weeks (while it sat in the Sun). I filled the depressions with hard high temperature red silicone rubber and taped over them with 3/4" fiberglass electrical tape. It seems to be holding well now. Schwinn should have done that in design. They are sending me a bike computer as an apology for my troubles, hey they listen, got to credit them for that.By the way Schwinn's 700c 25-32mm self sealing inner tubes are too long to fit in the tire, and fold up inside on inflation. The self sealing stuff doesn't work at this pressure, just makes a mess. Schrader valve, narrow 700c inner tubes are really hard to find, get a stock early, I found thorn proof inner tubes online. The cheap thin tubes are supposed to flex better and make you ride faster. My bike weights 26# I weigh 240#, excuse me, all you need to do is get some muscle kid and it won't slow you down. After all the tire flexes in and out, pushes in hard pushes out hard, so it's negligible unless your a racer.Bottom line it does what I need for a reasonable price. All of the problems have been simple fixes. Most of you are not my size and won't put the bike through what I do. I love the thing, plus it looks hot. I spend $300/year on bike repairs, I was spending $450/month to keep a car on the road. My cholesterol dived, my BP is great, and my sleep apnea is in remission since riding daily.

3Schwinn Prelude Road Bike
By Steven
Got this bike about a month ago after deciding to change from a hybrid to a road bike. This bike is priced right, is light & fast, has a nice paint job , straight & true wheels and a fairly comfy seat. I've put about 1500 miles on it and SO FAR I've had to adjust the rear derailleur, adjust the steering stem bolt DAILY and adjust the cranks DAILY (what a Pain and they both still creak!). I'm about 6' & 180 and the bike seems to fit me nicely. The brakes could have been positioned on the handlebars differently because you lose precious fractions of seconds trying to find and grab them in an emergency when you're not in the Race position on the drop down bars. Assembly instructions were terse and hard to understand and seemed to be written by an engineer on 6 beers. If you have a limited budget and you want an entry level road bike that you have to tinker with maybe this is your bike.

5Best Bike in its Class
By nerfherder2000
More in depth specs. Seat post 55cm, top post 56cm, rear cassette 7-speed 14-28t LOOK UP SUGGESTED BIKE SIZE FOR RIDERS.How is this bike similar to a $700 bike:Modern components easily upgradeable, serviceable, and standard. The bike stem brakes cassettes, everything except the handle bars that are smaller than 28mm( I think) which means no clip on aero bars. Light weight well constructed frame and wheels. Wheels have no seam like other cheap bikes. It has a seat that is very usable. Smooth reliable shifts. Components ( brake shifters etc.) are very workable. Cage pedals are great! How is in unlike a $700 road bike.Shifter separate from brakes. 7 speed instead of 8 speed rear cassette. I could only get the derailleur to work on the lowest six gears. Never really needed the high 28t anyways. The chain rubbed the frame on 14t when i first got it. I just put a washer between the cassette and the frame.( adjustment of the axle might have fixed it). Wheel tape needs to be replaced like others have stated ( it took mine a year to fail). It does not have quick release for back axle. I taped a wrench on the inside of the back frame with electricians tape.(ghetto but hardly noticeable). This bike may take some brain power to assemble and adjust. local bike will do it if you are not a patient person. If your cannot afford a $600-700 road bike buy this!!! If you cannot afford this bike(I understand how bike stores think $700 is no big deal) then DO NOT buy a road bike. The GMC or victory versions of road bikes are not worth the anger and frustration.I wish they had more sizes available or a woman's version.

5Awesome bike!!!!!
By Vanessa
I am 5'5" female and this bike is perfect! It is comfortable and a great height. I wanted the look of the cruisers, but wanted to be able to keep up with my husband while biking. This bike fits the bill perfectly - it has the mud guards and the cute back rack, but it can keep up too! There are a lot of gears, I don't change them too much, but I do like having them instead of just 1 or 3 options like a cruiser would offer. I've ridden this bike to work (~ 7 miles one way) and it was a great ride. The seat is comfortable too. I would highly recommend this bike if you want a cute, sophisticated bike that can ride well too.Just know that you will have to take this to a bike shop unless you're a professional. It pretty much comes assembled, so my husband put it together, seemed easy enough - unfortunately he put the handle bars on backwards (looked normal to me! lol) and the fender in the front kept rubbing on the tires - also the gears felt weird and it was hard to pedal -- once we had the bike shop do the adjustments (~ $50) it was like a completely different bike! I would highly recommend just taking the bike to the bike shop and asking them to assemble it - that way they can't make fun of how you (or your spouse) assembled it in the first place lol.

5awesome bike
By Fairy
I just finished assembling the bike. I love it! I have been looking for a comfy crusier style bike but versitale enough to go from trails to off roading. I biked 1/2 way up my super steep hill with no problem. The set up wasn't too hard. I have never worked on a bike before and with a few tools I was able to but on the front tire, pedals and handle bars. The seat is very comfortable. It was hard to decide on a bike online, but this is definately the right choice.

5Lovely
By luvzsdc
This bike is lovely. I love the way it looks, it has an elegance and style not seen with mountain bikes or other hybrids. I have to sit up on it, gracefully, no crouching, this makes it more comfortable and therefore more likely to be ridden. The shocks are perfect for the spring road terrain in Michigan after a hard winter. Potholes and debris are no match for the agility I possess with this bicycle. The saddle is very comfy, and the bike racks are handy. I like the white color as it is highly visible. The fenders keep me from getting the tell tale mud vein up and down my back after the wet of the road has been traveled through. I am very satisfied with this bike. Not since I was a kid on my first ten speed have I looked forward to riding a bike. I adore the hand grips, the way they fit my hands are lovely. The changing of the gears is smooth and effortless, no chinking noise of the chain, no hesitation. The gear dials are perfectly located at my finger tips so I do not have to take my eyes off the road. The brakes are smooth, not grabby or jerky. The tires are large, and I get the feeling as if I am traveling the maximum distance with the least amount of effort possible. I highly recommend this bike. I shopped around for several months before I made my decision on this bike. I am glad I did. I would buy another if needed.
